Richard F. Jones was born in Pensacola, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander (Bubba) Payne and Marilyn DeVaugn Jones; his grandmother, Ellen Philyaw Jones; and his siter, Nancy (Sissy Boo) West.
Richard accepted Christ at an early age under Dr. A. J. King. He later reunited with Greater Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Michael A. Thompson, Sr.
Richard graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where he was a member of the marching band. Through his passion for music, he attended Pensacola Junior College pursuing a music major. But when duty called, he left college and enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his twenty years of service, he proudly received numerous awards and medals: AF Commendation Medal, AF Outstanding Unit and w/two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal w/three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/one Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Service
Medal w/one Bronze Service Star, AF Overseas Ribbon, and countless more.
In addition to his stellar military career, Richard was a member of The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasonry as well as American Legion.
Mr. Jones leaves to mourn: three daughters, Cherterica Jones (Alexandria, La), Kioshyi Jackson (Dallas, Tx), and SFC Stephanie Jones (Fort Greg-Adams, Va); grandchildren: Sgt Booker Thomas, III, Jelani Peters, Nayah Jackson, and Delwin Decena, II; grandson: Kah’lee Decena; four sisters: Rachel Branch, Ellen Jemison, Evangelist Carolyn Williams, and Patrice Dennis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
