Peyton Antoinette Goodman, 24, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully on August 27, 2021. Peyton was born in Pensacola, Florida on May 1, 1997 to Mr. & Mrs. Percy & Cynthia Goodman. She was christened as a baby by the late Rev. Hines, Jr. and later joined First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C. E. Salter, Jr. She graduated from Escambia High School in 2016 and went on to attend Pensacola State College where she obtained her Associate of Arts Degree on May 5, 2019. She continued her education at the University of West Florida where she graduated on May 8, 2021 with a degree in Communications and a minor in Theatre Arts. She was an intern with the Escambia County Summer Youth Program for four years.
Peyton was a dedicated member of the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church Sunday School and Youth Department where she participated in Black History, Easter, and Christmas pageants. She was a faithful member of the Praise Dance Team, Youth Ushers, and served as a Youth Clerk. She was a proud member of Pensacola State College African American Student Association, University of West Florida Speech & Debate Team, University of West Florida National Council of Negro Women Collegiate Chapter; Emmaus Kidz, and was also presented to society by the Phenomenal Women organization.
[purple butterfly scroll] Peyton is preceded in death by her grandfather, Dr. Percy Goodman, Sr., grandmothers, Elnora Lyons & Willie Ruth Daggett, and uncle, Terry Lyons. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted parents, Percy, Jr. and Cynthia Goodman; loving twin brother Percy Goodman, III; adoring grandmother Antoinette (Toni) Goodman; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at St. John Divine Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4th. Viewing will take place Friday, Sept. 3rd from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Benboe Funeral Home.
